The Wedding of River Song plus Doctor Who Season 7 Details!

By Courtney Rowan

Yes, you read that correctly – “The Wedding of River Song” has been confirmed the title of Season Six’s finale.  Wow.  That is complete awesomesauce.   Here are some more details from the Radio Times on this:

And here it is at last – the episode with all the answers, as the Doctor journeys to Lake Silencio for his date with destiny. While I was writing this, my wife asked me, “What happens?” and when I frowned, and pondered my answer, she hurriedly added, “In one sentence. Quite a short one.” I thought a moment and said, “The Doctor goes to his certain death – and it doesn’t work out as well he expected.”  So welcome to what is, without doubt or serious competition, the wedding of the year! Early reports indicate that it could make On Her Majesty’s Secret Service look like a fairly successful honeymoon…

And some other bits:

  • Guest stars Frances Barber (Kovarian)
  • Guest stars Simon Callow (previously Charles Dickens in The Unquiet Dead)
  • Guest stars Simon Fisher-Becker (Dorium)
  • Guest stars Mark Gatiss
  • Guest stars Ian McNeice (Churchill)
  • Quote #1: “I don’t want to marry you.”
  • Quote #2: “I don’t want to murder you.”

Season 7 Details

There were rumors floating that Season 7 would be shortened.  Steven Moffat himself addressed these worries in a recent interview with the The Daily Beast.  A matter-of-fact, he stated the complete opposite, quite frankly;

“Absolute nonsense.  First of all, we are airing in 2012. The only thing that’s happening is that we’re moving a bit later…There’s lots of reasons for that that will become clear quite soon…It is certainly not a reduced episode count. Do you think the BBC would really let that happen? With an average audience of 10 million?…Doctor Who’s international profile is huge. It’s never been more successful. You’re not going to reduce a show like this. The opposite is going to happen, in fact.”

This is quote tantalizing of Mr. Moffat, don’t you think?  Does that mean we’ll get more than the standard 13 episodes?  What more can we expect? Please give us more Steven!!  We do know it will consist of at least the 13 episodes and the Christmas Special.

Until then, we’ve got the rest of Season 6 and apparently a fantastic wedding to attend, in true Moffat fashion, of course, which really means anything could happen.
