I just want to start out by saying I’m not a zombie fan, per say, but when I watched the pilot for the The Walking Dead last year, I spent 90 minutes with my jaw basically on the floor. I didn’t know what to expect as I’ve never really delved into the world of the walkers, but I was truly amazed at what I saw. Hence, I was hooked. I’ve always been a fan of post apocalyptic stories (BBC’s Survivors comes to mind, and of course Stephen King’s The Stand), so maybe that’s what attracted me. It’s a super strong character driven show that the zombies just happen to be a part of; almost as if they are a side note and yet the characters are so strong because of the zombies. Whatever the reason, I’m now a faithful fan and cannot wait for Season 2 to start.
E! Online released some details on the upcoming season that need to be shared. And there’s also a killer (no pun intended) video released from AMC showing us the making of Zombie Eyes – a MUST watch. But first, here’s some info on Season 2 from E!:
“The 13-episode season is going to be split in two. Blame the NFL because after airing seven episodes, the show will break to accommodate the holidays and football playoffs, and resume again in February with the final six.
Season two is jam-packed,” said executive producer and Walking Dead comic-book creator Robert Kirkman. “It’s a much bigger season than the first season.” And new showrunner Glen Mazzara promises that “every episode will land with a punch.”
Mazzara says he’s “very proud of the season”: “Whether we have zombie gags, action, emotional payoff where we’re pushing characters…we don’t have a bad episode in the can.”
Again, soooooo excited. The Season 2 Trailer alone gave me chills and then those 11 second teasers? One other aspect I absolutely LOVE is that the score is done by none other than Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactiga, Eureka, Termintaor: Sarah Connor Chronicles). His music is amazingly creepy matching the shows vibe perfectly. It’s used smartly though- very sparingly. The scenes with no music create this intense suspense that just chills you to the bone. And, that’s what makes it kick ass.
