New Star Wars deleted scene! (and more)

By Courtney Rowan

It’s Friday, fanboys and fangirls, and you know what that means, right?  Time to see what cool news dropped this week. Perhaps the coolest was the new Star Wars deleted scene shared at Celebration V, at which George Lucas had Mark Hamill introduce the clip.  Read on to see the clip (if you haven’t already) and more news in geekdom…

Star Wars Deleted Scene

So, Celebration V (the seventh Celebration of the Star Wars saga, the fifth in the United States), kicked off this week and finally gave us some new footage of Star Wars.  It’s pretty epic – a never-before-screened scene cut from Return of the Jedi in which Darth Vader tempts Luke Skywalker to join the dark side, paired with footage of Luke constructing/activating his green lightsaber and officially becoming a Jedi Knight. Awesomeness.

Eureka News – STAN LEE!!

Guess who’s coming to America’s smartest little town… STAN LEE!  Yes, that’s right, Lee has been tapped to guest star on Eureka and has been shooting his work this week.  He’s been tweeting updates from the set and I seriously cannot wait to see this episode.  No word yet on what he will play in the clever show. Follow Mr. Lee on twitter @TheRealStanLee. We also learned this week that Ming Na has will be guest starring on Eureka as well. You’ve recently seen Na on SGU. She will reportedly play Senator Alice Wen, who has come to deal with a sensitive issue at Global Dynamics. She also might make multiple appearances. Check out a sneak peek of tonight’s Eureka:

Stoned – Sneak Peek – Eureka.

PS.  Anyone else picking up on Fargo’s Terminator references each week??!!  LOVE it.

Okay, speaking of SyFy, I can’t go any further without mentioned this gem.  I don’t know if it will come close to Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus, but with Roger Corman and Eric Roberts involved, it will sure as hell be fun.  Check out the trailer for this classic to be:

Warehouse 13

Another solid episode this week from the Warehouse gang.  Some killer girl power going on and t he return of H.G. Wells.  I’m not sure if I buy Myka accepting HG so easily, but it did work well for the episode.  The plotline about her daughter kind of struck me, I think I did see some genuine sadness about not being able to see her anymore.  Her motives are definitely her own and Myka must realize this.  The grappling gun was a nice touch at the end, but I’m not sure if that was an artifact or just a cool invention.  Does it have any ‘powers’ or is it just cool?  Isn’t that what defines an artifact, the powers?? I do hope we see much more of her in the future.

Is anyone else having as much fun as I am about guessing Claudia’s hair streak color each week.  I think it’s a great subtle touch to her character as well as clever on the writer’s side.  Pete and Artie were awesome this week.  First off, I love that they finally admitted that there are artifacts being played with at the Warehouse.  I almost fell off the couch when I saw the Tim Leary glasses reappear and Artie’s new look through them.  I think Pete’s comedy is absolutely genius.  A fact that played into how well acted “Around The Bend” was as we see Pete in a serious tone, which kind of freaked me out.  Lindsay Wagner was cool and the appendix gag of growing back each year was pretty funny.  Especially since he’s using Barnum’s Top to do it.  I’m glad they have a little love interest for Artie (who is the Walrus??).

Here’s a sneak peek of  nest week’s Warehouse 13 – “Merge With Caution” :

Merge with Caution – Sneak Peek – Warehouse 13.

Some news from the world of Clark Kent is the announcement of the baddies in season 10.  At Comic Con this year, it was confirmed that Darkseid and the evil New Gods of Apokolips would feature as some of season ten’s villains. While Darkseid has yet to be cast, some of his entourage have!  Actor Steve Byers for you.  He’ll be Desaad, Darkseid’s master torturer who is often depicted in the comics wearing a cloak.

According to Kryptonsite, Michael Daingerfield will begin portraying Gordon Godfrey in the third episode of the upcoming season. “The episode is entitled ‘Supergirl’ and also features the previously announced return of Laura Vandervoort as Kara.” Godfrey, sometimes called Glorious Godfrey, appeared in comics from the 70’s with red hair. A member of the Apokoliptian Gods, he enjoys the power of persuasion. I’m super stoked for this final chapter.

Fall TV Lineup Announced!

It’s getting to be that time again.  I’m excited, I can’t lie.  I’m kind of over summer and ready for the fall and of course that means the return of Fall TV.  Since LOST is over and Flashforward was cancelled and 24 is done, I’m looking for something new to fill the emptiness.  So far the show I’m most intrigued by is The Event.  The trailers look pretty good so I’m hoping it lives up to my expectations.  Shows I’m most excited about returning are Fringe, Smallville, SGU and Chuck.  Check out all the full lineup from here:

Doctor Who

Since I have nothing exciting to share about The Doctor, I’ll leave you with this fun montage of fun stuff from “The Eleventh Hour”:

So that’s all for me  this week.  What’s your thoughts on the Fall TV shows?  How about Stan Lee on Eureka?  Comment your thoughts!

Green Lantern, Eureka and More! Oh My!

By Courtney Rowan

It’s that time again fanboys and fangirls, it’s Friday the 13th and boy did some killers news get dumped this week! Read on to learn about upcoming Smallville news, SyFy’s Christmas specials for our Warehouse gang and Eureka, new Green Lantern movie news and more!

Green Lantern Movie Update

This source is pretty reliable…  Last week I reported that they were brining Krona to the new GL movie, but this takes that a little bit further on the whole villain aspect.  I don’t want to give away too much, but has a serious scoop you need to read if you want to know.  Click here now to read the full scoop:

This sounds amazing, people.  I am really getting psyched to see this movie now.  I am really hoping they take it to space a lot too and don’t keep the movie too earth bound.  WooT!

Couple scoops going on here this week, my favorite of which is the return of James Marsters!  Yes, Marsters confirmed he’ll be returning as none other than Braniac 5.  Aw man, you know what that means, right?  Can you say Legion of Super-Heroes? Again?  (At least, I hope.) This has got me totally freaking, one because James Marsters kicks ass, and two for the return of the Legion.  Seeing Marsters as a ‘good guy’ (hoping they stick the comic) might be strange though, especially given his recent role in Caprica.  I really loved what they did with them in the previous season, so knowing that they’ll return is pure awesomeness. Read the full article here:

That’s not all though… check this out – Two more DC Universe characters are set to come to Smallville this year too, Hawkgirl and Deadshot!  According to Kryptonsite, Sahar Biniaz will guest star as Shayera (aka Hawkgirl) in an episode called “Shield.” Bradley Stryker will also appear in the episode as the infamous assassin “Deadshot,” best known for his appearances in the “Suicide Squad” and “Secret Six” comics.  Unsurprisingly, Michael Shanks (“Stargate: SG1”) will also reprise his role as Hawkman in the episode, following his debut during the previous season in the “Justice Society” episode by Geoff Johns.  Read the full article here:

We still have no idea what form Darkseid will take in Smallville‘s final season.  But I did hear that Michael Ironside is returning as General Sam Lane… man, how cool would Ironside as Darseid be?  Yeah… moving on then!

Warehouse 13 & Eureka News

So, yesterday SyFy announced that for the first time Syfy will have an episode each of “Eureka” and “Warehouse 13” for a special Christmas outing that will include not only a holiday-centric (and standalone) episode, but special guest appearances as well. Judd Hirsch and Paul Blackthorne will make their way to “Warehouse 13” while Chris Parnell and Matt Frewer pop up on “Eureka.”  Airlock Alpha released some details on the characters and the guest stars which you can read more about here:

Also, here’s a sneak peek at Monday’s Warehouse 13 when Claudia gets more than she bargained for while training in the field with Myka:–sneak-peek–warehouse-13/v1243712

And of course a sneak peek at tonight’s Eureka. Tiny’s back! Eureka’s producer, Jamie Paglia, has named this episode their “Jurassic Park”. Woo Hoo!

Well, that’s it for today.  Subscribe to the blog and never be left out of the loop!

Comic Con 2010 Faves and more!

By Courtney Rowan

Settle in ’cause this is a little on the long side, fanboys and fangirls, but chock full of good stuff, I promise!

Comic Con 2010 has come and gone, but left some pretty cool stuff in its wake. While I couldn’t possibly cover everything that happened there, I would like to expose some of the stuff I thought was awesome. Below you’ll see the Caprica Season 1.5 trailer, Stargate Universe Season 2 trailer, some Smallville spoilers and some news from other comic treasures.

Also, tonight starts the crossover event for Eureka and Warehouse 13! Take a look at a sneak peek for tonight’s Warehouse 13 and Friday’s Eureka below. I’ve got some juicy Doctor Who spoilers regarding Michael Gambon’s Christmas episode…  Let’s get to it, shall we?

Comic Con 2010

I love Caprica. I don’t care what the haters say, it is an awesome show. Admittingly, I am a BSG addict and I wasn’t sure what to expect from a prequel, but the acting is top-notch and I am really enjoying learning how the human race caused their own demise. So much can be explored with this premise and we’ve only tasted the icing. Based on the trailer below, looks like the second half of the season is going to be pretty action packed with a lot of speeding up the story. Perhaps that’s why they are making us wait until January (boo-hiss). Maybe they got some feedback that said, look we really love what you’re doing, but push the story along, please! Check out the new trailer released at Comic Con:

Stargate Universe

Stargate Universe may just be the best sci-fi show on TV right now (IMHO). Everything from their raw shooting style to the whole lost in space aspect is super appealing. The casting is amazing and it shows in their acting. I find myself sucked in every week. As a time travel addict, ‘Time’ was definitely the best epi of S1, but the whole storyline is pretty epic. This is the best thing to come out of the Stargate franchise in years. One of the coolest things is you don’t necessarily have had to have been up to speed with the full Stargate realm to love this. It really is all to itself, although no doubt, it’s helpful to know the back story in some aspects. Check out the new trailer released at Comic Con:

Also, here’s a very cool SGU Season 1.5 review from –

Okay, so Smallville had a really cool panel at Comic Con, and they released some killer spoilers from the season 10, the final season. Here are some highlights from the panel:

  • The Superman suit that will be used in Smallville is the EXACT SAME suit used in Superman Returns – but slightly altered. Brian Peterson (executive producer) recalled his excitement about finally receiving the Superman Returns suit from Warner Bros.
  • Clark will fly!
  • Jonathan Kent (John Schneider) will return for the season premiere.
  • Granny Goodness was the elderly woman outside of Tess Mercer’s hospital room in the ninth season finale. Tess has some connection to her, but Freeman hasn’t been told what that connection is yet.
  • Hartley will direct an episode this season (last year, he wrote the episode “Sacrifice”).

Avengers Casting

I could not go any further without addressing this huge news! The questions about the cast were finally revealed… I really would love to know what you think about these choices! (Well some we already knew, obviously)…

  • Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
  • Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark
  • Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson
  • Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow
  • Chris Hemsworth as Thor
  • Chris Evans as Captain America
  • Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
  • Mark Ruffalo as Incredible Hulk

So, there was a 5 minute trailer released for Thor, which naturally I could not track down as every site has pulled it.  But here’s some screen caps Screen Rant was able to post before they removed the actual video:

Green Lantern News

We finally saw Mr. Reynolds as GL on the EW cover last week (thought it was cool), but announced just yesterday is a new villain for the movie… KRONA!!!!!!!!!! I found this info out yesterday which opens so many possibilities for the DC Universe on film; multiverse, new actors for DC characters so they don’t need to pay existing ones, etc…

Warehouse 13 – Eureka crossover event!!

As promised, below is the sneak peek at tonight’s Warehouse 13 crossover event with Fargo visiting the Warehouse gang! AND, how cool is it that Rene Auberjonois will be in this epi??!!  Check this out:

And a peek at Eureka with Claudia in America’s smartest little town:

Doctor Who

Christmas special news!!  We already learned that Michael Gambon will joining the cast, but more details were released today regarding the episode.  According to a synopsis posted on a Doctor Who blog, Tardis Spoilers, Gambon plays a character named Kazran:

A local of the ‘Victorian’ setting that the Doctor visits, the character is said to have had several encounters with the Doctor throughout his lifetime, much like Moffat’s other characters Amy Pond and Reinette (The Girl In The Fireplace) and will take the place of the ‘Scrooge’ character from A Christmas Carol, the story that the Christmas Special is said to be loosely based on.

The character is also going to be seen at various stages throughout his life within the episode, played by other actors, though whether these will be just flashbacks or the Doctor hopping timelines is as of yet unknown.

Well, that’s it for now fellow fanboys and fangirls.  Whew!  There’s a lot of geek lovin’ in this one.  I’ll be following up soon with my take on the Who finale; which I absolutely adored, btw.  So keep your eyes posted and subscribe the blog to be kept up to date.

Oh and comment! Are you feeling the geek love too??!!
